The Saarbrücken Castle is an impressive building in the baroque style. Nowadays the Saarbrücken Regional Association is located here. Even before the castle was built, there was first a castle and then a Renaissance palace on this site.

The Saarbrücken Castle towers on a natural sandstone rock over the Saar. The naming of the city can be attributed to him: Sara Brocca from Old High German brocc (h) o, broken off, the Brocken on the Saar. The Saarbrücken Castle was designed by Baroque master builder Friedrich Joachim Stengel as the center of today's Altsaarbrücken. The axes of this first city planning commissioned by Prince Wilhelm Heinrich are still preserved today and clearly visible.
