The brothers Andreas (1607-1638) and Georg Dötschel (1618-1680) lived in Mitwitz. They worked as farmers and tailors and are best known today for their diary. This diary, rediscovered during the demolition of an old barn, offers valuable insights into everyday life in Mitwitz during the turbulent Thirty Years' War and the subsequent difficult period. It describes the challenges and small joys of the people in this region. To honor these "chroniclers of Mitwitz," the Dötschel Brothers Fountain was inaugurated in the park on Lindenweg in 1994.
