In 1982 Gaasperpark the Floriade was located on what is now the natural area. Lake Gaasperplas is now used for many boating activities such as sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and open swimming. On the beaches there is a limited area where everyone can swim. Little has been invested in Gaasperpark in recent years. In 2020 there were initial plans for changes to Gaasperpark, of which little has been implemented so far.
Most visitors only walk on the paved paths. If you want to experience more of nature, you should rather use the narrow hiking trails.
