R.K. parish church of St. Matthew in Eibergen. The parish of Eibergen is already old. Until the Reformation she used the old, late Gothic St. Matthew Church, the current Ned. Rev. Church. At the end of the eighteenth century, Eibergen Catholics worshiped in a barn church served by Franciscan fathers from Zwillbrock in what was then Prussia. In 1824 a so-called water management church was built. After the restoration of the episcopal hierarchy in 1853, the water management church was replaced by a neo-Gothic church by architect Tepe. That happened in 1876.

That church also needed to be replaced after half a century because it had become too small. The current church was built on site according to a design by the Enschede architect Johannes Sluijmer (1894-1979). This church was consecrated on November 5, 1935. The church was built in the then usual style for Roman Catholic churches: the Delft School, with references to rural medieval architecture. The church was set up according to the liturgical wishes of the time as a so-called people's church on a Christocentric floor plan. The choir is emphasized externally by the heavy crossing tower.

The Oude Mattheüskerk (Old St. Matthew's Church) is a Protestant church in the Dutch town of Eibergen. It was built in the 15th century as a pseudo-basilica and is dedicated to St. Matthew. The entrance is located under the church tower, which has a spire. Above it is a lancet window. The other windows of the church are also lancet windows. The church features cross-ribbed vaults, which were originally decorated with paintings.

The church is a national monument, with the nave (number 14606) and the church tower (number 14607) registered separately in the monument register.
