This sandstone cross-carrying statue, made around 1760, stands on two baluster-shaped pedestals beneath the linden trees in front of the Chapel of the Holy Cross. This depiction of Christ carrying the cross is popularly known as a "cross-carrying statue." There are nine such cross-carrying statues in the Lichtenfels district.
