The Oste Hamme Canal was built between 1765 and 1772 as a
Connecting canal between Hamme and Oste and served as the main drainage for the moor area between Bremervörde and the
northern Teufelsmoor. At the same time, the canal was used for peat shipping to sell the peat to Bremen or Hamburg. the canal was built by the
Moor commissioner Jürgen Christian Findorff planned and managed, the settlement and creation of the moor villages were also planned by Findorff.
