Teufelsmoor. A piece of moor railway tracks and a peat railway, plus remnants of the old clinker road - these remnants are reminiscent of the industrial peat extraction in the Teufelsmoor. Since 1922 the small peat railway has been chugging along the track next to Teufelsmoorstraße to the peat factory in Neu Stankt Jürgen.

The original 25 HP “Schöma” diesel locomotive from Schöttler Maschinenwerke Diepholz with two wagon trailers stands on the former narrow clinker street with the peat railway tracks next to it. Until the end of the 1980s it rumbled on the south side of the state road the five kilometers from the peat extraction area over the track embankment to the “Turba earth and humus plant” in Neu-St. Jürgen. There the peat sod was ground and processed into humus products.

"Sometimes the locomotive had difficulties negotiating the slope at the Hammebrücke", "it only made it with momentum". The train driver had to get out every now and then and put sand on the rails so that the wheels grip the rails better.

From here you can walk the moor nature trail (approx. 5 km).

Lots of information about the moor on the boards.

For the eye 2 moor lakes, the expanse of the moor, pure nature.

A trip like this with this moor locomotive would be great
