The Baruth church is a stately Gothic hall church. The baroque altar, the pulpit and the pews are just as worth seeing as the large Schuke organ. Ask for a tower climb! The design of the "church square" is reminiscent of the fighting in April 1945,
through which half of the building fabric in Baruth was lost. The "Saxon Postmile Column"
indicates the distances on the highways and tells about Baruth's affiliation with Saxony until 1815. Continue north from the post mile post. The large open space offers a beautiful view of the castle complex and the one behind it
Park. An ideal place for a picnic.

The postal column, about 4.50 m high, is a replica of a historic postal mileage column in Saxony and was inaugurated in 2014. It is reminiscent of the Saxon past of the city of Baruth, which only went to Prussia in 1815 as a result of the Congress of Vienna. At the beginning of the 18th century, the Saxon Elector Augustus the Strong had such post miles erected on the post roads throughout Electoral Saxony.

The eye-catcher of the column is a coat of arms of the Electorate of Saxony with a gilded crown and the Polish royal crown with the royal Polish-Lithuanian coat of arms. August the Strong was also King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania.
As a distance column, the obelisk shows the hours of walking that one needs to get to the various places by horse (1 post mile = 2 hours for a horse running normally = 9,062 meters).
