In the meantime, the air base has been declared a protected area after a rare species of bird was sighted. The DBU natural heritage area Hopsten has owned the northern half of the former air base since 2006.
The former air base is barely visible from the path. When the bushes are not so dense, you can take a look at the buildings and bunkers.

Komot said during my last visit that I could also drive on the tarred/concrete paths in the complex. It's better I didn't do it.
