Particularly noteworthy is the Cathedral with the crypt, designed by Vicente Acero and completed in 1726, organized around a circular space, covered by a flat vault, from which some rooms open. The set is presided over by a rectangular space with niches for burials in which, on the head wall, there is a marble Genoese altar from the 17th century with the image of the Virgin of the Rosary in white marble and in high quality Baroque style. . to the Italian sculptor Alessandro Algardi. In addition to the bishops of the diocese, Manuel de Falla and José Maria Pemán, illustrious figures from Cádiz, are also buried in the crypt.

Cadiz Cathedral is a good landmark if you get lost in the old town. And the plaza with a view of the impressive sandstone facade invites you to take a coffee break. The church, which is based on the Renaissance church in Granada, was begun in 1720 but was not completed until 1830. The back of the monumental building with the white neoclassical facade and the two towers borders the sea.
What is striking is the shiny dome decorated with yellow tiles, which contrasts with the pastel-colored houses in the Plaza de la Catedral. Worth seeing in the interior, which is designed with marble columns, are the altar and the choir stalls made of mahogany wood. The Spanish composer Manuel de Falla is buried in the crypt. A five-meter-tall silver monstrance is displayed in the treasury. On the right tower there is a viewing platform, to which a staircase-free serpentine path leads up.
