The "Protestant Educational Association for Berlin and the surrounding area" acquires the "Hirschluch" heathland near Storkow/Mark with the aim of building a youth center especially for disadvantaged children, young people and trainees. The "Hirschluch" (moor water hole where the deer goes to drink) is not just a field name, but an educational and meeting place for children, youth and family groups since 1925 and a recognized youth education center since 1995. In 2005, the association "Jugendhilfe und Sozialarbeit e.V." (Fürstenwalde) took over the sponsorship from the Protestant regional church and is now also the owner of the property.
The mission statement of the facility includes: "The Evangelical Youth Education and Meeting Center Hirschluch is a meeting place for people of different ages, origins, religions and cultures, as well as for people with and without disabilities. The encounters are made possible and promoted in particular by common Meals in the dining room, use of the playgrounds and sports fields, the extensive grounds with meadows and forest, as well as devotions and services in the chapel and at the Hirschluchkreuz."
