From Wikipedia: Oedenberg originated as the seat of a ministerialis (unfree knight) family on imperial estate. Whether the ministerialis "Chonrad de Ödenburc," mentioned as a witness as early as 1166, belonged to this family is uncertain. The first recorded mention of the place dates back to 1287. However, by 1312, the year of their own first recorded mention, the Oedenberg family no longer owned the place that gave the town its name. Since 1304, Nuremberg patrician families had resided in Oedenberg Castle.
