Fort aan de Jisperweg is part of the special Amsterdam Defense Line: a defense structure around Amsterdam of dikes, locks, forts and batteries with water as an important strategy.
The special thing about the fort is that it is a 'model C': only two of these were built. A 'model C' fort had no front building, but a rapid-fire gun in a retractable turret. The fort was built between 1912 and 1914.
