With its 64 meter high tower, the large Catholic parish church on Fellererplatz has been a central building in Munich's Solln district since 1905. The old church in the village center (Herterich-/Bleibtreustraße) with its rococo altar by Johann Baptist Straub had become too small, as the colony of villas between the state railway station opened in 1896, today's S-Bahn station, and the village continued to grow. In 1920, Solln became an independent parish after having been pastorally cared for for many centuries by the original parish of Sendling and finally by Pullach. After the thorough remodeling in 1966, the interior of the large parish church shows only a few parts of the neo-Baroque furnishings (altarpieces and Stations of the Cross) as well as two late Gothic carvings (Mercy Seat and Madonna of the Rosary) from the Old Church.

Catholic church from 1905. The tower is 64m high. The patron saint is John the Baptist, meaning "Baptist" in ancient Greek. The church was designed by architect Franz Rank. On October 3, 1920, it was first consecrated by Archbishop Michael von Faulhaber. The south portal is particularly decorated, a stone carving from the 19th century and is a copy of the Mannerist church portal of the Tückelhausen monastery. On the cemetery wall in the southwest there is a war memorial, 1918 by Karl Loesche.
Inside: the altarpiece, an Art Nouveau painting from 1915, showing John the Baptist baptizing Jesus. At his sides are the parents of the church patron, Saints Zechariah and Elizabeth.
