The Germaniahafen in the Kai-City Kiel in the Schleswig-Holstein capital Kiel is a harbor for guest sailors and traditional ships, which was completed in 1998. The Germania port is 28 meters wide and 130 meters long. [1] It lies directly opposite the main station, is directly accessible from there via the Hörnbrücke and practically a branch of the Hörn. During the construction of the port, special attention was paid to ecological sustainability. In 2007, the high-rise center at the Germaniahafen was completed in the immediate vicinity. It houses catering establishments, music bars, offices and apartments. At its southern end is the sculpture Adam and Eve by the artist Bjørn Nørgaard.
For the annual Kieler Woche the Germaniahafen is the venue for various events.

The Sklupur actually stood in front of the Sophienhof on the station side.

At the head of Kiel's Germaniahafen stands the eleven-meter-high sculpture "Adam and Eve" by the Danish sculptor Bjørn Nørgaard. On a three-meter-high base with colored glazed faience tiles stands a huge, eight-meter-high double figure made of granite, female on one side, male on the other.
This figure is surrounded by a tight-fitting, wide-meshed bronze net.

The monumental and archaic design of the sculpture suggests that it is about more than just the representation of any human figure. We see something that is larger than man - both literally and figuratively.
While the base already towers over the pedestrians, the double figure above it is so huge that we have to look up in awe. In earlier times, emperors and kings were glorified with such huge figures, but here humanity as such is meant to be awed and admired.

Nothing distracts from the essence of the person, no clothing, no activity:
The figure stands upright, completely concentrated with arms at his sides and eyes closed. A closer look at the bronze net around the figure shows that this is not a shackle, but a richly decorated network of figures and symbols. It surrounds the figure like a force field, just as every individual person is surrounded by history and stories. The world in which we live influences our thoughts, feelings and actions, and our experiences are the framework of our self.

The figure was first erected in 1989 in front of the Sophienhof shopping center, but a few years later it was moved to the opposite bank of the Hörn, where it is less influenced by the surrounding architecture and stands more freely.
