After King Frederick William I acquired the Schenken estates of Teupitz and Buchholz in 1717, the Hammer Forestry Office was established in the center of these estates in 1737 as part of the royal chamber of his son Augustus William. In the 19th century, the young Crown Prince and later Emperor William II frequently came here to hunt.
