Johannes Kepler was born on December 27th, 1571 in Weil der Stadt. He was a German natural philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, optician and Protestant theologian. From 1594 to 1600 Kepler was a landscape mathematician in Graz, that is, mathematician from the province of Styria. He taught mathematics at the Protestant collegiate school.
