Already in the land registry in 1268, renovated at the end of the 1400s / early 1500s, it is also known as the Fonte delle Trippe because it was used by farmers to wash the entrails of animals. The lion protomes were sculpted by Girolamo Angelo di Pascuccio, also author of the corner masks of the Civic Tower
