Already known in 1268 as FONTE NOVA, it was rebuilt in 1392. D 1643 is registered as FONTE DEL FOSSO DI BABUCCIO (and since 1750 also known as Fonte Pozzo del Mercato, Fonte delle Ripe di Marchesino, Fonte Cappello). At the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century the old plant was renovated and enlarged. The reconstruction of the new part dates back to the early 1900s.
