Built on a podium, the Roman sanctuary consists of a temple and a triple portico - at least that's what it was then. Today, one striking pillar catches your eye. The construction period began in the 1st century AD and lasted until about the year 140.

The Sanctuaire du Cigognier in Avenches is a significant archaeological site that houses the remains of a Roman sanctuary. The sanctuary was dedicated to the god Mars Caturix and was built during Roman rule in what is now Switzerland.
