There was already a church here in the 13th century. In 1635 the church collapsed and the second church was built on the same site, this time made of stone. This church had no tower and the bell hung in a belfry next to the church. In 1698 another clock was added. This church also often served as a shelter for soldiers and in 1672 the church was looted by troops of the bishop of Munster, better known as Bommen Berend.
The current church was built in 1852. Both bells were hung in the tower. During the Second World War the clocks were confiscated by the German occupiers, but after the war the clock from 1698 was returned. It now hangs in the tower.
