The Daemen family lived on the Kamperhof as early as the 16th century. The founder of the St. Rochus Chapel also came from this family. After Derck Daemen had the chapel "Onze Lieve Vrouw ter Nood" built in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows on a meadow near the Meuse River in 1705, this wealthy young man from the Kamperhof founded the St. Rochus Chapel in 1715.

One almost overlooks this beautiful little Saint Rochus chapel on the Kampweg.

Saint Roch is the patron saint against the plague; in 1635 this disease claimed numerous victims in Well - the reason for the establishment.

Saint Roch, to whom this chapel is dedicated, was born in Montpellier, France, in the mid-14th century. He is popularly regarded—along with Saint Sebastian—as a "plague saint." A characteristic feature of Roch's depictions in paintings and statues is that he usually points to a plague boil on his leg; often a dog is also seen at his feet, for according to legend, when Roch himself contracted the plague and withdrew into solitude, this dog provided him with bread daily.

Saint Roch's feast day in the liturgical calendar is August 16.
