Mountain Biking Highlight (Segment)
Recommended by 6 mountain bikers
Location: Pulfero, Udine, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy
The itinerary represents the ascent from the western slope of Mount Matajur, the most bucolic and pastoral that crosses the wildest sceneries of the territory. The departure is in the center of Pulfero. A short transfer to the next town, Loch, along the Natisone Valley, allows you to reach the start of the climb that leads to the Glevizza pass, at an altitude of 997m. A long, tortuous climb, immersed in silence, often in the woods when not in open clearings among the rocks. It crosses the towns of Mersino, famous throughout the Natisone Valleys for the Carnival celebrations. Pristine place and in the past linked to sheep farming and pastures, of which there are still some traces of shepherds' stables and shelters. The climb then takes you over a narrow concrete road carved into the rock at the Glevizza pass. From here a short descent on asphalt allows for a breather before the final ramps. After Montemaggiore, the road climbs again up to the Pelizzo Hut.Departure: Pulfero, Bar Cafeteria Da Francy, Via Roma, 77
