On his 100th birthday, the Eifelverein in Monschau donated the "way of the century" to all hikers - this gift was more than successful, and the trail deserves at least the title Premium. The path is marked very well with the number 100 and signposted, the sights are explained by information boards. The path can be shortened several times on the way or even extended, also it requires because of the slopes of ~ 460 meters and the length of ~ 15.5 Km a good dose of fitness.
The century route starts and ends in the parking Burgau (at the glass blowing) in Monschau.
The route is gigantic, partly on narrow and steep paths, partly on wide paths - but always quiet and little frequented. The signage is perfect: a "100" with an underlying arrow. You can not get lost, even without GPS.
In addition, there are many boards with interesting information about history and nature. One of the highlights is certainly the summit cross of Ehrensteinley, which invites you to take a long break. Also impressive is the view from the Engelsley above the Perlenbachtal.
The former monastery Reichenstein, which is being renovated, invites to a rest and sightseeing. At the Norbertuskapelle, just before the monastery, there is a hiking car park with information boards.

Eifelsteig Stage 3. Very nice, but very long, especially in winter :-)

Also impressive is the view from the Engelsley above the Perlenbachtals. There are some restaurants along the way. Below the Perlenbachtalsperre there is Hotel-Restaurant Perlenau. Later but then, at the farm Breiterscheid there is a great milk refueling station, coffee machine and vending machine sales of farm products. Pleasant rest area. Unfortunately, only seating for about 4 people. The former monastery Reichenstein, which is being renovated, invites to a rest and sightseeing. At the Norbertuskapelle, just before the monastery, there is a hiking car park with information boards. You can end the tour with a stroll through Monschau or a visit to the glassworks. This path is an absolute must.(Https://ich-geh-wandern.de/der-jahrhundertweg-um-monschau)

On the occasion of its 100th birthday in 1985, the Eifelverein Monschau gave all hikers the so-called "Century Trail".
