The beautiful fountain is in the center of town. Every real Fockbeker has been here and everyone knows the legend of the Aalversuper.
If you don't know it yet, here it is:

Fockbek's legend is about Aalversupen (Low German for eel drowning or eel drowning). According to the story, the villagers wanted to breed herrings in Lake Fockbeker, for which they poured salted herrings bought at the Rendsburg market into the lake.
The following year, when they drained the lake to reap the fruits of their labor, they found not a single herring, only an eel lounging in the mud. The Fockbekers concluded that this eel had eaten all the herring. In the course of deliberations on the most cruel possible punishment for the "culprit", a villager who once nearly drowned advocated drowning the eel (Low German: versupen).
No sooner said than done: as soon as the lake was filled again, the eel was thrown into the water at the deepest point. As he squirmed in the water, the Fockbekers commented: "Look at how he's struggling!" and "He's drowning! He's drowning!"; in Low German: "He versupt! He versupt!", hence "De Aalversuper".
To mark the spot where they had drowned the eel, they made a notch on the appropriate side of the boat.
This satirical story was allegedly invented by the residents of the neighboring town of Rendsburg and was intended to reflect the simplicity of the residents of the neighboring village to the west. Ultimately, disputes over fishing rights were the cause.

According to legend, the people of Fockbek actually wanted to drown an eel (Low German: “versupen”) because, according to legend, it ate all the herring!
