The Arsenal basin connects the Seine to the Saint-Martin canal. This haven of peace is bordered by the Arsenal garden, a green oasis in the heart of the city. Ideal for urban walks!

The Arsenal basin, which is located as an extension of the Saint-Martin canal, was dug in 1805 on the site of the ditches of the enclosure of Charles V. This ditch led water from the Seine to the Bastille . It was not until 1825 that it was completed due to the constraints imposed by very strong urbanization. It was the central axis of an entire artisan district.

It is pleasant to walk there from the Bastille, following the rest of the canal towards the Seine and continuing the path along the banks.
