The name "Marienhöhe" probably goes back to the soprano Maria Knüpfer-Egli (1872 to 1924). During her engagement at the Bayreuth Wagner Festival, she lived in the house at Panoramaweg 108 in Warmensteinach. Around 1900, she chose the vantage point as her favorite place and went back to it again and again.
