In the village of Ename, a district of Oudenaarde, you will find excavations of a fortification from the time of Otto II and an abbey, also from the Middle Ages.
The archaeological site bears the European Heritage Label. You can experience the history of Ename, especially the High Middle Ages, in the Provincial Archaeological Museum, where important finds are also on display.
