Birrarung Marr is an inner-city park located between the Melbourne CBD and the Yarra River. It opened in 2002. The name refers to the banks of Birrarung, the "River of Mists", in the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people, the indigenous people of the Melbourne region at the time of European colonisation.
