From here you have a good view of the little-noticed new lock.

Very interesting. Beautiful bike paths. The Waltrop Lock Park is the name given to four drop-off structures at the branch of the Rhine-Herne Canal from the Dortmund-Ems Canal. The lock park is located in Waltrop, bordering Castrop-Rauxel.The oldest structure is the old Henrichenburg ship lift. It was built between 1894 and 1899 to connect the port of Dortmund and was the first of its kind in Germany. With the construction of the Rhine-Herne Canal, a low-cost lock was planned and completed in 1914; today it is known as the Old Shaft Lock. All historic drop-off structures are listed buildings. All four structures can be visited.

Henrichenburg Lock Park is unique because you can see the technical achievements of the past and the present. The waterway cross is also unique because so many canals meet. Highly recommended. Greetings go out
