In the summer, Eggum is a very popular place to enjoy the midnight sun. Eggum is considered the best place for such observations, along with the North Cape. Tourists gather in the area around Kvalhausen, which lies a little beyond Eggum itself. Kvalhausen is a hill that was used as a radar station by the German occupation forces during World War II. The foundation wall around the old radar station is still standing. "The Fort", as the locals call it, is a local landmark.
