One of the most famous equestrian generals in Prussian history, Hans Joachim von Zieten, once lived here in his baroque manor house. A chic property that occasionally opens its doors to the general public, for example during the annual lake festival in Wustrau.

Since 1726, Zieten has lived on the Wustrau knight's seat. Hans Joachim von Zieten (1699-1786) was one of the most famous cavalry generals in Prussian history and a close confidant of King Frederick the Great. In the wars of Frederick II, von Zieten proved to be a capable commander of the hussar regiment. The so-called “Zietenritt”, with which the hussar general secured his king the reinforcement of the main army on May 20, 1745, is famous. The manor house of Hans Joachim von Zieten, which was later extended, is now the seat of the German Judicial Academy and is an important sight in town.
