The area in the Döberitzer Heide was used for military purposes for more than 200 years, most recently as a tank and infantry training area for the Red Army. The paths have been cleared of weapons, so it is not only forbidden to go off the paths but also not advisable if you want to remain physically intact. The Sielmann Foundation has created a unique biotope here with large game living freely in the core zone of the heath. With a bit of luck you can see red deer, bison, water buffalo and Przewalski horses here.
