Hohenkrug has always belonged to Predöhl. The inn was mentioned as early as 1548. It was probably one of the oldest restaurants in Lemgow. Around 1800, the innkeeper also had the license for distilling and brewing. A forge was operated on the farm, which was rebuilt on the opposite side of the street after a fire. The inn and the smithy were located on what was then the Fuhrmannsweg in the direction of Salzwedel.
