Distributed around the castle are these old food stores, without which one or the other harvest would probably have been lost in the past. In between, sheep graze and are not disturbed by anything. A magical place!

Hiking

A Hórreo or Espigueiros is a traditional storage structure for crops (e.g. corn), which can be found primarily in northern Portugal and in the Spanish regions of Asturias, Galicia, Cantabria, Navarre and in the north of the province of León. In terms of function, it corresponds to the Bavarian-Austrian grain box. The smaller hórreos were usually used by just one or two families; the longer examples were usually village community storage facilities.
