The hill of Mulldonoch plays a big part in the history of Scotland as it's believed that, in the 14th century, Robert the Bruce rolled large rocks down the face of Mulldonoch onto the English who were ambushed and defeated by him and his supporters, despite being outnumbered at a ratio of 10 to 1. To commemorate the victory, Bruce's Stone sits at the edge of Loch Trool in the valley.
