The two-part Demianiplatz (including the Görlitz Theater) and the Marienplatz (including the Dicker Turm, Senckenberg Museum für Naturkunde) are two city center squares worth seeing, which are characterized by numerous Wilhelminian style buildings and are connected to the old town of Görlitz; dominating at the intersection of the two squares is the imposing Görlitz department store, a listed department store in the historicist style with numerous decorative elements of Art Nouveau; it is the only surviving Art Nouveau department store in Germany; impressive the imposing glass roof with the chandeliers;
