The Godesburg was blown up by Bavarian troops in 1583 during the Truchsessian War. There is a restaurant at the castle with a great view of the Rhine Valley.

At the foot of Godesburg (Bonner Straße 5) there is the world's best nut shop "Family Nuts". I have never got nuts of this good quality anywhere in Germany. Highly recommended!
