Hohensaaten is characterized in the eastern part of the municipality by the Havel-Oder waterway and the main stream of the Oder; There are two locks, the Oder-Havel cycle path and the Oder-Neisse cycle path lead through the middle of the extensive facilities:- the west lock mediates the connection within the Havel-Oder waterway from the Wriezener Alten Oder (also called Oderberger waters or Oderhaltung) to the Hohensaaten-Friedrichsthaler waterway, which continues on the western edge of the Oder valley, which primarily represents the canalised old West Oder; the same flows south of Garz into the arm of the Oder, now known as the Westoder, which itself only branches off from the main stream shortly before the confluence of the canal;- the Ostschleuse mediates the connection from the Wriezener Alten Oder (also called Oderberger waters or Oderhaltung) to the main stream of the Oder (also called Ostoder or Stromoder) at a significantly higher level on the eastern edge of the Oder valley as a border river between D and PL;

The paved path from the lock to the next northern towns is great to drive and you can make rapid progress on the wide Oder dike.
