Thousands of soldiers are buried near the Col du Linge. The Col du Linge (German: Lingekopf) is a 980 meter high French pass in the Vosges in the Haut-Rhin department. During the First World War, the Col du Linge was on the front line dividing German and French troops in the Vosges. On August 9, 1981, the Musée mémorial du Linge was officially inaugurated as a memorial.
