Erkensruhr is a district of the municipality of Simmerath, on the brook of the same name, in the side valley of the Rur in the area of the Rurtalsperre in the North Eifel. The scattered settlement lying below the Dreiborner plateau and extending over 3 km on both sides of the Erkensruhr stream of the same name is surrounded by the Eifel National Park up to the end of the valley.

Beautiful valley. Great rest area with a yellow stagecoach as a highlight. From here you reach a hut with religious thanksgiving crosses or plaques.
