Prior to the building of a wooden toll bridge in the 1800s, access to and from from Hayling Island was only possible by boat or by crossing the Wadeway. This three-quarter mile long footpath between Langstone and Hayling is thought to pre-date Roman Britain and offered safe passage for pedestrians and horse riders for three hours either side of low tide.

Only accessible at low tide. Good walking surface, but ensure that you stay between the subtle marked edges.
