The densely built-up residential area ends on one side, and the moor belt nature reserve begins on the other. They are separated by the bird protection ditch, which was realized as part of the CLEVER Cities projects and with EU funding. The purpose of the ditch is to keep domestic animals – mainly cats – from the residential areas from disturbing the sheltered birds breeding in the moor.
