Since 1876 the area of today's youth hostel (Konrad-Adenauer-Ring 2) in Bad Oldesloe has been a bathing place. In 1891, wooden dressing rooms were built. In 1914 the old river bathing establishment was built. Today it is under monument protection. 1936, after a trave regulation, was rebuilt. The present entrance building of the youth hostel was built to the left of the small bathhouse. In 1956 bathing in the Trave was banned because of environmental pollution.
