The cattle pastures of Valsaín were large extensions of pasture populated with oaks until Carlos III bought the territory, in 1761, and began the reforestation with Scots pine. Most of the pasture lands were transformed except for the public dehesa of El Plantío, which conserves medieval privileges and rights for local ranchers. The best remains of the Pesquerías Reales path appear in this section. The riverbank is reinforced with thick masonry walls to facilitate the construction of the road and channel the water from the riverbed, favoring the formation of pools and rafts to concentrate fishing. In the steep sections there are remains of the steps carved into the rocks of the land and when you reach the Bridge of the Canals, built in the middle of a splendid oak grove, the setting again evokes a medieval atmosphere. The itinerary of the excursion crosses the river Eresma by the pedestrian bridge built before reaching the stone arch of the bridge of the Canals. On the right bank of the river, at the source of the channel attached to the stone pillars of the bridge, there is a spring that has water all year round.

The picturesque Bridge of Canals owes its name to the log channel supported by granite pillars that spans the riverbed of the Eresma River above the bridge. Some researchers affirm that the origin of the aqueduct is Roman due to the appearance of the arch of the bridge and the granite blocks of the pillars. In fact, the canal was built in the 16th century, in the time of Felipe II, to channel the waters of the Peñalara stream and supply drinking water to the ponds and fountains of the Valsaín palace. The arch of the bridge is from the time of Carlos V, as can be seen in the imperial coat of arms carved in the central section of the arch.
