The branches of the Eisenerzberghaus were opencast mines, ore processing and loading. The ore processing was usually a central plant that was fed from several pits. There were separate loading stations for the further transport of the ore ready for smelting in the transport trains of the railway. The parts of the company were seldom close together. Larger distances between the branches of the company usually had to be bridged. Cable cars, which covered the landscape like a net in the early 20th century, were an economical means of transport.
