We eventually walk past the place where there used to be a Bailey Bridge in commemoration of Martijn Rosier. A soldier from Sint Annaparochie who died on August 26, 2007 in Afghanistan. Martijn was thirty years old when he died in Uruzgan during a search for roadside bombs. He was the tenth soldier to die during the Defense mission in Afghanistan at the time.

After his death, his company placed a genius bridge, a so-called bailey bridge, in his memory on the training ground at Budel. It became the Martijn Rosier Bridge.

Since the Royal Military School no longer used the site, the bridge fell into disrepair and was demolished. (see wikimapia.org/37452215/nl/Martijn-Rosier Bridge for the original Martijn-Rosier Bridge)

Now there are logs in the water in the same place (connecting bridge) from one side to the other. You don't have to use it, you can also walk around it!!
