The Iron Rhine was a railway line in Flanders, Dutch Limburg and North Rhine-Westphalia. It mainly served as a freight line between the port of Antwerp, the Mönchengladbach traffic junction and the Ruhr area. The section between Roermond (NL) and Dalheim (D) has been closed since 1992, but the three countries are negotiating a reactivation.
