Road cycling

The cemetery was started at the beginning of the Second Battle of Messines, the so-called Mine Battle in June 1917 and would be used until the end of the Third Battle of Ypres in October 1917. Many of the wounded from this battle were transferred to a nearby farm, which was called Canada Farm by the British and was set up as a Casualty Clearing Station (field hospital). Those who succumbed to their wounds were buried here. Most killed were Royal Artillery (438) and Guards Division (144) men. After the final offensive in 1918, more graves were added.

Canada Farm Cemetery took its name from a farm that served as a dressing station during the Allied offensive in 1917. Most of the victims buried here died in the care area between June and October 1917.

A total of 907 Commonwealth servicemen are buried there. The cemetery was designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield.
