In 2016, the Wertingen entrepreneur Siegfried Denzel and his wife set up the Siegfried and Elfriede Denzel Foundation with the aim of promoting art, history, church, religion and culture. In discussions with the founder in February 2017, Dr. Peter Fassl, district heritage officer and deputy chairman of the foundation, developed the Seven Chapels project.
